Plastic surgery is a medical specialty concerned with the correction or restoration of form and function. In addition to cosmetic procedures, plastic surgery includes many types of reconstructive surgery, hand surgery, microsurgery, and the treatment of burns.
Dr. Alexander Anzarut is a certified plastic surgeon and a member of the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgery. He specializes in both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.
Dr. Anzarut was born and raised in British Columbia. He commenced his post-secondary training at the University of British Columbia. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology in 1996. He was awarded the Gold Medal as the top graduating student. He went on to medical school, receiving his Medical Degree 2000. He was named the top graduating student in surgery.
From 2000 to 2008, Dr. Anzarut completed a Plastic Surgery Residency, a Burn Care Fellowship, and Master's Degree in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Alberta. He received several distinctions, including the 2006 Graham Bursary for the most exemplary resident in the Department of Surgery.
In 2009, he completed an American Society for Surgery of the Hand Certified Hand and Microsurgery Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Anzarut was honored to be one the surgeons involved with North America's first bilateral hand transplant. During his career he has published numerous research articles in the areas of burn care, hand surgery, breast surgery, and cosmetic surgery.
He now lives in the South Island with his wife Dr. Jody Anzarut. As a cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgeon he is dedicated to providing individualized and outstanding care to each of his patients.
